The Service Broker

Project Overview

This project is developing techniques for allowing highly accurate and focused search for on-line services. This work is led by Mark Klein and Avi Bernstein

The Challenge

An increasing number of on-line services are becoming available in engineering, finance etc. Finding the services that fulfill a given need using standard keyword-based Web search engines is time-consuming and error-prone because of terminological differences as well as the fact that keywords do little to capture the semantics of the function the service provides.

Our Vision

We are using taxonomic process indexing concepts developed in the context of the MIT Process Handbook project, in addition to specially-designed query languages and search algorithms, to allow one to get a highly-focused list of matching services despite potential differences in the terminology or process model used by the query-maker and service provider.
