The power of information technology has increased enormously in recent years. Because information is so central to markets and organizational processes, business leaders are transforming their firms so they can compete more effectively in a digital economy. We believe the underlying fundamentals of this change can be understood through rigorous observation, study and analysis. If you are interested in joining us in this endeavor, the Doctoral Program in Information Technologies at the MIT Sloan School of Management may be the right place for you.
The IT group at the MIT Sloan School of Management has for many years been widely recognized as the leading IT program in the world.1 Our doctoral program has been in existence for over 40 years and is relatively small and selective, typically admitting less than 5% of applicants.
Most MIT Sloan graduates choose academic careers and many populate the faculty ranks of IT programs at other research universities including Wharton, Carnegie-Mellon, New York University, Michigan, UC/Irvine, Columbia and MIT Sloan. They have won numerous awards and research grants in the field over the years.
1In August, 2009, U.S. News and World Report ranked MIT's IT program as the #1 program in the country for the 20th
consecutive year. As far as we know, this ranking is consistent with every other published ranking of graduate business school IT programs. |
